In The Playoffs is an independent sports analytics site that answers one question for every NHL, NBA, and MLB team, every day: what are the odds they make the playoffs? It is free, carries no paywall, and publishes both its methodology and its error rates.
Each morning the site simulates the remainder of all three leagues' regular seasons 100,000 times apiece and reports how often each of the 92 teams qualifies for the postseason. Alongside the headline probability, every team page breaks down division, wild card, conference, and championship chances, and shows how those numbers have moved over the season.
Playoff odds are widely published but rarely explained, and almost never scored. This site takes the opposite approach: the full methodology is public, the model's calibration metrics are published and updated nightly, and the underlying data is offered in machine-readable form for anyone who wants to check the work.
The model takes no input from sportsbooks, pundits, or human rankings, and the site does not accept payment to alter or feature any team's numbers. Probabilities are informational and are not betting advice.
